Honestly, C's shot was not really inadvertant, but it wasn't delivered to B, it was actually said in defense of B to a fourth party. That B might see it and get insulted was a risk that B took in delivering the message. Having typed that, that might be what you meant.

Yet, the foundational point I made at the end is that B and all of the writers piling on in a Facebook like frenzy should not see the comment section as writer's territory. That observation by another 4th party was an aha moment for me.
