I went back into Buster's response in Nancy's story yesterday to repeat to him what I have said to others:

"As for the clone accounts and their spam, it's simply insanity that Medium doesn't employ measures to stop the cloning. It's easy to set up a system whereby an account cannot have the same icon and name as another account. They could also employ a system that AI reviews comments to block those that are clearly spam by recognizing when they are just requests to be contacted outside the platform"

Clearly, the clone accounts with their writing group scams (how do those work anyway?) are trying to avoid scanned detection by inserting periods between the letters of where they seek to be contacted, an old trick, that I would think tech has caught up with. I'm surprised they don't use similar tricks to mask the phone numbers from detection.
