Your thesis corresponds with my intuition. Practical application is much more important to appreciation of philosophy than teaching Plato. When I first awakened I purchasd his Republic. I've yet to read it. Same with MA's Meditations. I did find the forward interesting. I have much more enjoyed your discussions of various non-ancient philosophers which help me connect dots the way I do.
