You’re awesome Jules. That Moon Manifesting acrostic poem is fantastic. I also count syllables on my fingers and some words I am occasionally not sure of the syllable count and google how many syllables it contains. Now don’t feel bad, my finger count has your tanka at 5-7-5-8-5. I learned poetry on the fly here on medium. Your essays contain very poetic prose and I’m sure you can translate your skills to poetry as well, as you did very well today. Michael Hall has published a lot of prompts for various forms with detailed descriptions. There are a lot of Michael Halls in here. I’ll go back in a minute and make his name a link. I’ll also add a link to a poem story of mine that has a helpful link to a piece on haiku and tanka. Given your streams of consciousness style in which you thrive (with a little reining in from your favorite editor 😉) you would probably write great free verse and prose poetry. I do very well in the short syllabic structures because they challenge me to fit a lot of meaning into just a few words and I enjoy that. They are probably too rigid for the natural you, but then again I know you like a challenge
