I came back to comment further. One commenter reminded me of a story I heard many years ago. Apparently the dean of a prestigous medical school would welcome every incoming class with something to the effect of 70% of what we teach you will be proven wrong within your professional lifetimes.

One field that is mired in inneffective for too many sufferers one size fits all treatment is addiction. That's something I write about from time to time. https://medium.com/illumination/drilling-down-to-the-root-cause-of-addiction-7c57c5a3fd6c and https://marcus17043.medium.com/efficacy-of-12-step-programs-for-addiction-treatment-c111fbffc10a are two.

A brief word (or more) about studies. I am absolutely pro vax. But the mRNA vax studies were a joke. I read them when they were released. The calculated 95% efficacy was a joke. The study protocols only tested people who reported symptoms. As I wrote in January 2021, "As of two weeks ago, the lowest positivity rate in the United States is 2.2% (VT and HI) and the overall rate is about 12.5%. The U.S.-resident share of the study exceeded 80% (I infer this from 130 of 154 randomization sites being in the U.S.) See Notes #1. In the study, the placebo positivity rate is 0.7% — .0007 as a decimal number. How is it possible for the placebo group to have 95% fewer infections than the general population? Not testing and thereby missing asymptomatic [and mild symptom] infections, massively skews the efficacy results."

Plus, the studies had no protocol for uniformity of diligence.
