I wasn't sure how I would react to your personal essay, when I clicked in from the title--would I quibble, disagree, or agree with various parts. I decided to highlight this absolute truth. "The issue is how we talk about alcohol in society and continue to normalize it as harmless and an integral part of our social fun."

Now, as may not surprise you, I'll proffer a belief of mine, actually it's more than a belief, I know it as fact, but I don't expect many to agree with me but it is great food for thought.

No one dies a day earlier or a day later from any action or omission they commit or someone else or some many other elses in the butterfly effect of chaos theory and life may commit. Yet, how we live and how we die and very much the product of such intersecting free will. That is my position that I hope will take hold and, for one positive effect, would eliminate suicide attempts.
