The spectre of a premature death is good motivation for many to live healthier lifestyles. I, not surpisingly to you I'm sure, have a more nuanced outlook. I believe, no, I know from my spiritual experiences, that the one thing that is universally predetermined in our otherwise mostly improv scripts (soul contracts), is date of death. Yet, HOW WE LIVE and HOW WE DIE are very much the product of our free will and how we do or do not take care of ourselves. My takeaway from this article is not that his choices led to an early death but rather they led to a generally unhappy/discontented life. If anyone wants to read further on my thoughts about other various ways in which acceptance of predetermined date of death can affect worldviews, I discuss a few of them here: https://marcus17043.medium.com/my-takeaways-from-news-that-alec-baldwin-charged-with-involuntary-manslaughter-4381d31637

As discussed therein and my earlier works linked therein, for me the most personally important takeaway from dates of death being set in stone is suicide attempt prevention. This is my most complete work on that topic: https://medium.com/illumination/dizain-of-suicide-72bcde4dc8d8 For anyone who wants a shorter read on that, there's this one that hits most of the key points: https://medium.com/promptly-written/suicide-is-not-painless-ac4c0c999e81
